Founding Member Pricing
A launch offer should reward early customers without trapping you in a price you cannot sustain. Here is how to design one, with our own plan as the example.
Model my launch pricingEvery new product faces the same problem: you need paying customers before you have proof, reviews or a long feature list. A founding member offer solves it by trading a better price for an early commitment. Done well, it brings in your first customers, early revenue and the feedback you need. Done badly, it locks you into a price that does not cover your costs, or teaches customers to wait for discounts.
Three kinds of launch offers
| Offer | How it works | Upside | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Founding member plan | Limited spots, a lower monthly price locked for a set time | Recurring revenue from day one; clear end date | Must honour the lock exactly as promised |
| Lifetime deal | One payment for permanent access | Cash upfront, fast word of mouth | No recurring revenue; ongoing costs for every lifetime user |
| Early-bird discount | A percentage off for a period or the first payment | Simple, easy to stop | Little loyalty once the discount ends |
Our real example: the Founding Member plan
When we opened paid plans on All Innovativ, we launched a Founding Member plan. As listed on our plans page in October 2026:
- 50 spots in total. Once they are taken, the plan closes permanently.
- $19.99 a month, half the regular $39 Pro price.
- Locked for 12 months from sign-up. After 12 months it renews at the same $19.99 unless the customer cancels or upgrades.
- Full PRO access: 400 AI prompts a month and 50 upSEO pages a month, the same quotas as Pro.
- A visible counter of remaining spots on the plans page.
Why we chose this design
- Monthly, not lifetime. Every AI prompt has a real cost. A lifetime deal would have meant serving heavy users forever with no revenue to cover it.
- Same quotas as Pro. The discount is on price, not on what you get, so founding members experience the real product and give useful feedback.
- A hard limit of 50. A real limit keeps the offer honest and the cost predictable.
- Clear rules after the lock. The renewal terms are written on the plans page before anyone pays.
How to design your own founding offer
- Know your cost to serve. Especially for AI products: what does a heavy user cost per month? The founding price must cover it.
- Pick the regular price first. The founding offer is a discount from something; if the regular price is not set, the discount has no anchor.
- Choose the limit. A number of spots, a deadline, or both. Make it real and visible.
- Decide what happens at the end. Renew at the founding price, move to the regular price with notice, or let customers choose. Write it down.
- Ask for something back. Feedback calls, a testimonial or a case study, in plain words, not hidden in terms.
Example: founding offer for a small SaaS
For a fictional restaurant scheduling app with a regular Team plan at $59 per location:
Fictional example. The founding price is about 40% off and still above the product's cost to serve.

Frequently asked questions
What is a founding member plan?
A limited launch offer for the first customers: usually a lower price, sometimes extra features or a voice in the roadmap, in exchange for joining early. It is typically capped by number of spots or by a deadline.
Should I offer a lifetime deal?
Be careful. A one-time payment for lifetime access brings cash now but no recurring revenue from those customers, while their usage keeps costing you. For AI products with real cost per use, a time-limited locked price is usually safer.
How big should the founding discount be?
Large enough to matter and small enough to sustain. Many founders use 30 to 50% off the regular price. Make sure the discounted price still covers your cost to serve, including AI usage.
How long should the price be locked?
Long enough to feel like a real reward, commonly 12 months or for as long as the subscription stays active. Write down exactly what happens when the lock ends, before the first customer signs up.
How does All Innovativ's Founding plan work?
As listed on our plans page in October 2026: 50 spots in total, $19.99 a month, half the regular $39 Pro price, locked for 12 months from sign-up, with full PRO access. After 12 months it renews at the same price unless the customer cancels or upgrades.
Planning a launch offer? Model your pricing.
This All Innovativ page explains founding member pricing for a SaaS launch, compares founding plans, lifetime deals and early-bird discounts, and uses All Innovativ's own Founding Member plan as an example: 50 spots, $19.99 a month (half the $39 Pro price), locked for 12 months, with full PRO access, as listed in October 2026.
It advises against lifetime deals for AI products with real cost per use, and lists steps to design a founding offer: know the cost to serve, set the regular price first, choose a visible limit, define what happens when the lock ends and ask for feedback in return. All Innovativ Pricing Strategy takes a product or service description, target market, business stage, one of 6 goals, competitor pricing, a differentiator, current numbers, one of 9 currencies and one of 33 report languages. It returns a recommended pricing model plus 1–2 alternatives, each with a price range, tiers (one highlighted), pros, cons and psychology tips, a competitor benchmark with uncertain prices marked (verify), Year 1 and Year 2 revenue with a break-even estimate and stated assumptions, and a 3-phase roadmap. One analysis uses one AI prompt. It is included in every paid plan on allinnovativ.dev.
